Nikola Tesla Technical Museum
- Lower Town
Tehnicki muzej Nikola Tesla
The Nikola Tesla Technical Museum is situated in the West part of Lower Town (Donji Grad), next to the Cibona Tower. It is only a few blocks from our hotel, The Westin. The museum has two stories and is fairly large. It is worth to visit for some rare cars, airplanes, old trains and trams, vintage hi fi, varous machines and models of space rockets, a space car and a small exhibition about Nikola Tesla. Among the cars you can watch a rare NSU, a Fiat, a VW and old fire trucks. There is a special exhibition about Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) himself. Tesla was a Serbian-American inventor and engineer, born in the Austrian Empire, in a part that is today's Croatia. He is mostly known for his contributions to the AC electricity system. He has been overshadowed by Thomas Edison, but Tesla had a very important role in early electricity, but didn't become as famous as Edison because he wasn't interested in the commercial aspect of electricity.
