Best Western Premier Hotel Astoria, Zagreb
- Views, review
The first two nights in Zagreb we stayed at The Westin. After we returned from trips to Slovenia and Italy, we returned to the Best Western Premier Hotel Astoria, or just the Astoria. This is a small 4-star hotel with 100 rooms.
Having stayed in a BW hotel before, a narrow, tall one in Hong Kong, this was the opposite; only 6 floors but with wide rooms and public areas. the lobby is elegant, small and has nice dark wooden panels and red leather furniture. A business center, a car park, restaurant, bar and laundry service are among the hotels features. The elevator was modern.
Our twin room was on the 6th floor and had views over central Zagreb. We had required a room on the top floor if possible, and were glad to find out that the hotel fullfilled this wish. The interior was nice but nothing special. The room had everything you could expect from a 4 star hotel, such as air condition, mini bar, cable TV, room safe etc. The bathroom was standard but nice, it had a shower and a golden frame mirror. A special feature was the automatic pulldowns at the windows, that could be adjusted by buttons.
The breakfast buffet was included in our price and was really good, with much to choose from, different kinds of bread, several luxorious cheeses, cereals, coffee, fruit etc. The only negative aspect was that the pancakes were not so good and there was only one kind of juice (orange).
The staff arranged a taxi to the airport in the morning, with a great deal of a fixed price of just 100 kuna. The arrangement could be made only 10 minutes before, this is 5-star service! The hotel was not very expensive to stay at, we got a great deal and good value for money and would highly recommend it.
Astoria is situated in the city center, at Petrinjska ul. 71 in Lower Town. This is just 2 blocks from the Central Station, 1 block from King Tomislav Square and about 6 blocks from Ban Jelacic Square.
