Zagreb Franjo Tudman Airport
- Velika Gorica, Zagreb Zracna luka
Zagreb's international airport, Franjo Tudman, is situated in the small city Velika Gorica, about 10km South of Zagreb's city center, and is the largest and busiest airport in Croatia, with 3.5 million passengers annually. It was also the first airport I travelled to during the pandemic in 2021. The airport was named after Franjo Tudman, the first president of Croatia, and was opened in 1962. A new large futuristic terminal was completed in 2016, this is were we arrived. The architecture is consisting of sweeping waves and diagonal lines. We flew with Ryanair (that used an Airbus A320 from Lauda) from Malmö-Sturup Airport. With no checked in luggage the process to leave the terminal went really smooth.
The easiest way to go to the city center is with bus, it takes just about 30 minutes and stop at the Central Bus Station, East of the city center, where you have to walk or take a tram or taxi the rest of the way.
