Shinagawa- Shinagawa Prince Hotel, Shinagawa Station, Daiichi-Keihin, skylines and views
Shinagawa is a ward south of the central city, adjancent to Tokyo Bay. It is centered around the large Shinagawa Station. The busy road Daiichi-Keihin passes by the station and goes towards Minato ward, Toranomon Hills and Tokyo Tower. Opposite the station is Shinagawa Prince Hotel, where we stayed after our trip to Nikko. This 4-star hotel is Japan’s largest hotel with over 3000 rooms, 11 restaurants, an aquarium and a 3D cinema and one of the 20 largest in the world! The hotel is like a city within the city, spread out on 4 towers, built between 1974 and 2002. The interior is informal, the 2-storey lobby is large and elegant. We stayed on the 27th floor of the 39-storey main tower. The annex tower was built in 1994 and the Executive Tower in 2002. The only downpart was that the elevator line was very slow, and the restaurants overpriced. Next to Shinagawa PRince is the Shinagawa Goos Hotel (formerly Pacific Meridien) and two other Prince hotels. Shinagawa is typical Tokyo, but less personal then for example Shibuya, Ginza and Shinjuku. In Shinagawa you find even more skyscrapers, shrines, museums, restaurants, stores and 10 embassies.
