Greater Stockholm is a very large area and many of Sweden´s most populated communities are located there. So are Swede´s place in Kista, were we stayed.

KISTA. This is the center of this very northern suburb, bought by the city of Stockholm in the 70s. As we stayed there, it took us 20 minutes to get to Stockholm´s city center by subway. Kista has one of Sweden´s largest shopping malls, Kistagallerian, with about 140 stores and a food court. A lot of companies are located in Kista, many of them in the brandnew Kista Science Tower.

Kista Science Tower is now the tallest building in Scandinavia and Sweden´s newest skyscraper. KST is 130m and 34 floors, but will not be completed until 2004 though the facade is almost finished. However, the same year it will be surpassed by Turning Torso in Malmö(190m). Another 4 m taller residence skyscraper is also planned: Kista Residence Tower that will be completed as far as in 2007 and have 42 floors.

Best of all: there were great views of this elegant building from Swede´s residence. KST:s lobby is already open for public and sowent inside.

RINKEBY. This highrise suburb seen from Swede´s window, is located just north of Kista. The strange thing is that the building in the middle looks exactly like the main police office building in Malmö.

SOLNA. Solna is one of Sweden´s largest cities with 56 000 citizens. It is bordering Stockholm´s city center. The picture shows Solna Centrum, mainly consisting of a large shopping galleria that integrates parts of the actual center that was covered with glass roofs. Solna´s city hall is the building to the left in the background. We jumped off the subway in Solna our last day in Stockholm on our way to old town.

Dallashuset at Råsunda stadium. This 15-story glass building was added to one of Sweden´s largest stadiums in the 80s when the TV show "Dallas" was popular.
