Sopot beachfront
BEACHFRONT, GRUNWALDZA, ALEJA WOJSKA POLSKIEGO, PIER

This page is about the part of Sopot where the beach is, and the immediate surroundings, like Grunwaldzka street and the cozy passage laned with trees called Aleja Wojska Polskiego.

Sopot has a very long and popular beach, just next to the city center. During this September day it was sunny, but a bit cold for a bath. The Sopot Pier is seen in the background.

Sofitel Grand Hotel and Casino, a 5 star seaside resort, also has a fountain in front of it that changes colours. There is a fence around the hotel, marking the private property. It certainly has a Riviera feeling. It was built in 1927 and has 127 rooms. There are no day pictures unfortunately.

Sofitel Grand Hotel has an art deco restaurant and a grand spa.

GRUNWALDZKA:

Grunwaldzka is one of the major streets of Sopot's city center, and is pretty picturesque. It is parallel with the shoreline (though the beach is not visible from the street). Here you fine nice art nouvaux mansions, hotels and cafés mixed with more dull unpainted buildings. It leads to the main square, Skwer Kuracyjny, and the main road, Monte Cassino.
