In the outskirts, on the hills, you find some of the tallest residential buildngs in Croatia, with about 30 floors each, creating a skyline. The 28-storey Franje Candeka 23a from 1977 is the tallest at 103m. The 5 Porecka higrises are 80m each. Tower Center Rijeka (picture 4) is a blue glass tower from 2007 in the Pecine neighbourhood, and also has a mall with 150 stores. Hilton Rijeka Costabella Beach Resort & Spa is not tall, but a very large luxrious hotel in the Western outskirts, along the coast (picture 10).
In the center, at Jadranski Square, is the High House Albori from 1942, sometimes nicknamed just “the Rijeka Skyscraper” despite being just 14 floors high.
