Riverside, Motala Ström, Central Station- Motala Ström, Centralstationen, Carl Johans Park, Scandic Hotel, Stadshuset
Along Motala Ström, locally dubbed "Strömmen", you find Strömparken with trees, fountains and several riverside cafés and places. On the West Bank of Motala Ström in the city center, there are more modern buildings, and a few highrises (nothing really tall though). The central station is white and looks like an Italian castle. Opposite the station is Carl Johans Park with beautiful sculptures, fountains, trees and even palms, and the art nouveaux theater building Östgötateatern. The park was named after King Karl XIV Johan (1818-44), who also was honoured by a statue in the park by Ludwig Schwanthaler. Norra Promenaden is a major road where trams goes along a tree alley in the middle. |
