Milan Malpensa Airport- Crowne Plaza Hotel
Malpensa is the largest one of Milan's 3 airports. It is also the largest airport in Northern Italy. It is situated Norhtwest of the city and can be reached by bus from the central station. It has been used as an airfield since 1910, and was occupied by the Nazis during WWII, but not until 1948 that commercial flights begun from Malpensa. During the 1980s a heavy extension and modernization begun, to take over Linate's role as the most important airport. Malpensa has two large terminals, Terminal 1 and the newer Terminal 2, that has been reopened in 2023, and was Alitalia's main hub for a time. From the airport the Italian Alps can be seen. The control tower is tall and in postmodern style. We were flying with Easyjet from Terminal 1 to Copenhagen. We stayed one night at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Malpensa Airport. It is a 3-storey 4-star hotel. It is hard to reach without a car, we had to take the shuttle bus from Terminal 1 and then walk 700m on a dark road to reach the hotel. The room was very big and the bed comfortable but the interior a bit impersonal. |
