Gamla Väster - The Old Town

Gamla Väster is Malmö's Old Town, the west part of the city center that is located between Stortorget and Kungsparken. Its small historical buildings host architects, art galleries, advertizing agencies, small hotels and cafés. Many houses have recently been refurbished in the late 80s and the area is once again hip. But unlike Stockholm's Old Town, there are almost no stores in Malmö's Gamla Väster.

This building is containting an architect bureau and makes me think of Greenwich Village, New York.

You may not think about whale watching when visiting Sweden, but there are Scandinavian cruises where you have the opportunity to see whales. There was even a humpback whale sighted in the Øresund a few months ago. If you enjoy cold weather cruises and whale watching, consider an Alaskan cruise in the USA. Alaska family cruises may be more expensive than Scandinavian cruises, but they are one of the best ways to see whales in their natural habitat.

A nice house at Engelbrektsgatan that recalls both jugend and renaissance.
