This part is about the ultra modern business and research district IDEON and the new highrise area Margaretedal, as well as the area around the large hospital and the south part that also has some new highrises.

IDEON Science Park:

IDEON Science Park is a kind of village for research and business in the northern outskirts of town. It is very modern, if not futuristic. Large companies as Ericsson, Astra Zeneca and IKEA have offices in IDEON. A 30-storey highrise is planned for the area. It has been approved and will be called A huge European research village, called ESS, is also planned for IDEON.

Ideon Gateway is a brand new highrise that is Lund’s tallest and is situated in Ideon Science Park in Lund’s northern outskirts. It is a  mixed office highrise and hotel (Elite Hotel Ideon), 72m tall with 18 floors. The building is one of the most ecological highrises in the world with green roofs, self powered elevators and sun cells panels. The exterior is one of the first higrises in the world to shift colours. Because of a special film it shifts colour from pink to orange to green!

It is Lund’s first “skyscraper” (or tall highrise) and has surpassed Allhelgonakyrkan as Lund’s tallest highrise (Domkyrkan is only 3rd). Upon completion it is the 3rd tallest highrise in Skåne.

Ericsson's large office building (the HQ is in Göteborg). Ericsson is still one of the world's largest mobile phone companies.

Most office building in Ideon are a bit dull.

Area around the hospital:

The observatory tower is situated between IDEON and the wellknown university hospital(seen in the middle).
The building to the right is one of the hospital's 3 brandnew parking garages with similar design.
The hospital, called Lunds Universitetssjukhusm, nicknamed "Blocket", is the most significant modern building in Lund.

The observatory is a former water tower from 1909.

Norra Kyrkogården (Northern Cemetery), a beautiful churchyard in the north, next to the hospital.

Margaretedal:

Margaretedal district with the four new 12-storey highrises called Lunna Töser (slang for Lund's girls). They are called so because the 2 staples of Lund's cathedral are
called "Lunna pågar" (slang for Lund's boys). In the distance ou can see the highrise at Järnåkra and Skattehuset.

They were drawn by the Swiss architect Mario Kampi.

Lunna Töser is dominating the south part of Lund. I think they look really urbn from this angle.

The newest highrise in Lund (about 13 floors), in front of Skattehuset, formerly considered tall by Lund standard.
