London, United Kingdom´s capital and the actual Europe´s largest city is also a worldknown historic metropolis as most people know. I visited London with a friend in May 1999 for 5 days. At first, when we get off the "underground" at Piccadilly Circus, arriving directly from Heathrow Airport, I felt nothing special about London. But after some days of walking and travelling with dubbeldecker bus, I discovered that London has many faces. It is a mixture between history and a modern metropolis with many faces - not by far as oldfashioned as I had imagined. The weather was also better, it was only raining for some hours in two days, and when we arrived it was very sunny. Most of the architecture feels old and often beautiful(though the white buildings fastly get dirty), but there are also modern buildings(mostly from the 70s) and new skyscrapers are rising in the financial district for the first time in decades and in Docklands, that I unfortunately don´t have any pictures of(but will bring next time I´ll go there. London is a cosmopolitan city with much young culture, but sometimes also a very conservative monumental city. There are also over an hour of film from this journey including pics from the airplane, unfortunately not available.
