Sky Garden, Fenchurch Building
- Views from the "Walkie-Talkie" Bldg
20 Fenchurch Street is the official name of the 39-storey neo-futuristic skyscraper that is nicknamed the "Walkie-Talkie Bldg", completed in 2015 in the Central Business District of East London. The 160m tall building is not only known for its irregular shape, but also because of it's Sky Garden, a roof garden that is free to visit. It is a tropical garden on floors 36-38 on the top building, that is sloping towards large glass windows with views of London. There is also a restaurant that is hanging above the lobby area of the roof garden, that feature several tropical plants. The building was designed by Rafael Viñoly.
Even if it is free to visit it is needed to reserve a free ticket at least one month in advance, since the demand is high. There were no tickets left when I booked the London trip, but I tried tree times and at the third attempt I was allowed to get in, because it was early on a Sunday Easter morning, not so extremely many people went there. The outdoor section of the observation deck was closed during my visit.
One New Change
- Roof terrace
One New Change is a central office building and shopping mall that opened in 2010, constructed right oppoiste St Paul's Cathedral, that is double mirrored in it's glass exterior. The mall, designed by Jean Nouvel, has 60 shops and an outdoor atrium with glass elevators that lead to a roof terrace with great views of London. The entrance is free and there are fancy bars on the terrace.
