Diamond Hill, North Kowloon
- Nan Lian Garden and Chi Lin Nunnery
The Nan Lian Garden is a Chinese classical garden in Diamond Hill in Northern Kowloon, that opened to public in late 2006. The garden, designed in Tang Dynasty-style has an area of 3.5 hectares. There are hills, pounds, rocks, a waterfall with a restaurant, beautiful trees and pavilions in the garden. It is a joing project between the nearby Chi Lin Nunnery and Hong Kong Government. Chi Lin Nunnery is a Buddhist cloister situated right next to Nan Lian Garden. It might look old, but was actually completed in year 2000, as a copy of a traditional temple from the Tang dynasty (618-907). Unfortunately it was closed during our visit to the garden in the evening. We visited Nan Lian Garden in the evening as a compensaton for the failure to reach the Great Buddha Statue on Lantau Island, about one hour before closing time.
