Hamburg's skyline Hamburg has no actual skyscrapers, but a lot of tall church towers and some tall highrises here and there. The best way to see Hamburg from above is I started my Hamburg visit by walking 3/4 of the 542 steps towards the top at the 133m tall church St Petri Kirche. I didn't go to the top because I was Petrikirche's top is at 133m. The church is Hamburg's 2nd tallest building. There are circular windows on the bottom of the spire (about 3/4 the way to the top), so I could take some aerial photos of Hamburg without going to the top. The Highflyer balloon at Deichtorplatz, another way to see Hamburg from above. In the middle is the main station, very close to my hotel. To the East: St Jacobi Kirche at Steinstrasse. The jugend building in the middle depart the main streets Mönckebergstrasse and Steinstresse from each other. The glass highrises in the far right is Berliner Tor. In the far left you can see Chilehaus and to the right IBM building. To the south: St Katharinen Kirche and the ruined Nikolaikirche. In the background is Hafencity and Speicherstadt with the new concert hall u/c. The ruined Nikolaiturm also has an observation deck. It is Hamburg's tallest building, St Petri Church is the 2nd tallest. The Elbphilharmonie is here under construction. To the west: Nikolaikirche and Rathaus. Rathhaus, the City Hall. Rathausmarkt. To the north: Towers: Unileverhaus, Fernsehturm and Radisson Blu Hotel. Unileverhaus, Mövenpick Hotel, Fernsehturm (tallest structure) and Radisson Blu Hotel (tallest highrise). Mövenpick Hotel (a former water tower), the TV tower (Fernsehturm) and Geomatikum. The greenery in the middle right is the park Planten und Blumen. The lake Binnenalster with the Radisson in the background. Binnenalster and the larger lake Aussenalster. Binnenalster. Going down again, seeing the bell of the St Petri steeple.
