Volvo Museum- Arendal, Hisingen
Gothenburg is the capital of the Swedish car Volvo. Here you find Volvo's headquarters, factories and museums. Some models are stil manufactured in the Gothenburg suburb of Torslanda, while many others are manufactured in Belgium and China. In Arendal, next to Torslanda (on Hisingen island North of central Gothenburg), you find the impressive Volvo Museum, right next to the shore of Kattegat. Here you find many rare models; from the oldest Volvos like "Jacob" from 1927, Roger Moore's Volvo P1800 from "The Saint", Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf's PV56, modern every day cars like 240, 760, PV544 and Amazon, famous rare futuristic concept cars from different centuries, trucks, buses, tractors, model cars, engines and much more. There are even Volvo guitars, and a special department for the popular Duett vans. There is also a souvenir shop and a café at the first floor. The museum opened in 1995 and is owned by Volvo. It has two floors on 8000m2. About 100 vehicles are on display and there is an exhibtion about Volvo Ocean Race. |
