Centralstationen, Drottningtorget, Trädgårdsföreningen,- Clarion Hotel Post, Hotel Eggers, Synagogue, Göta Kanal, Nya Allén
Centralstationen (Gothenburg Central Station) is a partly old yellow brick from 1858 and partly a modern glass building situated right opposite Drottningtorget (Queens Square). The station is also a bus terminal and is connected to Nordstan, one of the largest shopping malls in Scandinavia. Drottningtorget is an important tram hub and is situated next to the canal, Göta Kanal. Drottninggatan, a long major pedestrian street, begins here. At Drottningtorget you also find the classic Hotel Eggers, the more modern Hotel Opera and the imposing yellow brick neo-classic Clarion Hotel Post, the former main post office from 1925, was in 2012 converted and reopened as a hotel with a new highrise built upon it. Many highrises and skyscrapers area planned for the near future around the station. Trädgårdsföreningen (Garden Society of Gothenburg) is a park and horticultural garden situated next to Avenyn, on the south bank of Göta Kanal, the canal separates it from the old town. Nya Allén (New Alley) is a road that goes through the park. |
