Road San Salvador - Santa Ana
This is the road between the two largest cities of El Salvador: San Salvador and Santa Ana. It is built like a highway with two lanes in each direction, but the speed limiti is only about 80km/h due to the large number of hazards, like crossing pedestrians and vehicles, markets right at the road, and buses and cars that suddenly stops in the middle of the "highway"!
The road is in a pretty bad condition, but as soon as you get nearer the big cities, the condition start to get better. This kind of difference is common in many developing countries. Along the road, you will see many funny things, like people standing on the back of pick-up trucks, cars that looks like wrecks, vehicles with green front lights, trucks overloaded in a crazy way, people driving with the indicators on all the time etc etc. Some cars are in a such bad condition that it is hard to believe it is moving, but you also see lots of modern cars, the latest models of, mostly Japanese and Korean, cars.
We drove along this road several times when making daytrips from San Salvador; on the way to Tazumal, to Ruta del Flores, to Santa Ana, and with the tourist bus to Guatemela City.
