Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark and Scandinavia´s 2nd largest city. However, it is hard to judge where the city ends as parts of Copenhagen are like own communities within the city (the city of Copenhagen itself ha less than 500 000 inhabitants). The metropolis is connected by a bridge from Malmö, Sweden. So it takes just 45 minutes for me to get to downtown Copenhagen by bus and train from my home in Malmö! Thus I have visited the city a lot of times, so I have taken a lot of pictures. Copenhagen is actually called København in Danish and Köpenhamn in Swedish. Copenhagen is perhaps not Scandinavia´s most beautiful city, but it is the most cosmopolitan and international city. Most parts of the city are flat and the city center, that is filled with canals and small lakes, is concentrated around Stroget, the famous pedestrian street that leads from the 2 main squares, Rådhuspladsen, where the city hall and Tivoli is, and Kongens Nytorv. Stroget is very popular among tourists, especially Swedes, but there are alot more to discover. Only the city center offers many small charmy streets and parks, and if you add all the other boroughs of Copenhagen, those pages are linked to above, you will realise that you have to get out of Stroget to discover the city. A lot of new development is going on all over the city, especially in the new Orestad area, the harbour and the city center, so this site is growing.
