Cologne Triangle / KölnTriangle and it's views
- Cologne Cathedral, KölnTurm, Colonius, Rhine riverfront, Altstadt, Deutz, Grosse St Martin, Koelnmesse, West Köln, Pollonius
On the opposite side of the Rhine from the city center is the Deutz district. The landmark of Deutz is KölnTriangle (Cologne Triangle), a 103m tall circular glass skyscraper from 2006, that has a very popular observation deck, CologneView, on the top 29th floor, that offers outdoor 360 degree views of Cologne with surroundings. It was designed by Dörte Gatermann. It replaced the observation deck of Colonius TV tower that is now closed. Colonius, that is the tallest structure in Rheinland-Westfalen, can be seen from the CologneTriangle though, as well as the Cologne Cathedral, Rhine, Alststadt, Hohenzollern Bridge, KölnTurm and so on.
The building has a large atrium with artworks and is headquarters of European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
You can see to nearby cities like Leverkusen and Mülheim and on clear days to Düsseldorf and Bonn. We visited in a late afternoon on a very hot day with up to 38 degrees C, since there is no roof above the observation deck it was boiling hot.
