Chicago by night and sunset- Loop, Magnificent Mile, John Hancock Center, Grant Park, Buckingham Fountain, Navy Pier, Lincoln Park, Getaway HostelChicago by night is an exciting city with glittering skyscrapers. Michigan Avenue, especially Magnificent Mile (the North part) is especially vibrant. Lincoln Park, the Northern neighbourhood where we stayed, was quite lively in the evenings. We also visited Navy Pier at sunset, a tourist trap with actually very few attractions and fastfood restaurants, but worth to see for the views over the harbour and skyline. Despite the high crime rate in Chicago, it is not dangerous to walk around in downtown or Lincoln Park, at least not until midnight and as long as you keep common sense. Chicago has a vibrant nightlife with many night clubs that feature live music, the ones we passed by were House of Blues, Kingston Mines and the Blues club in Lincoln Park. Some of the most spectacular structures to see after dark are the neon sign at the Chicago Theatre, the Buckingham Fountain with its changing colour schemes, Old Water Tower, Navy Pier ferris wheel and Prudential Center with its violet and blue colours. The skyline from afar, from Lake Michigan or from a tall skyscraper like Sears Tower or John Hancock Center is also impressive to see, with all the lights of the skyscrapers! Because we visited in June, and it didn't turn completely dark until around 10 PM, the number of night pictures are limited.
