Bucharest parks- Herastrau Park, Cismigiu Park, King Michael I Park of Romania, Carol Park,Palace Hall Park, Parcul Herăstrău, Gradina Cismigiu, Lake Herastrau, Trandafirilor IslandBucharest (Bucuresti) is a city with many parks. Herastrau Park (Parcul Herastrau), or King Michael I Park since 2017, is situated in the Northern outskirts of Bucharest and is one of the city's largest parks, at a size of 187ha. For a time it was named the Stalin Park. In the middle there is a big lake, Lake Herastrau, formed by the Colentina River. From the lake there are views of the skyscrapers of the Floreasca district, where Sky Tower, Romania's tallest building, is situated. There is an island called Insula Trandafirilor, were you find the Monument to the Founders of the EU. At the Southwest entrance you find the Arch of Triumph and at the Northwest entrance is the Casa Presei (House of Free Press). There is also a Hard Rock Café in the park. National Museum of the Village "Dimitrie Gusti" is in Herastrau Park. It features old traditional Romanian building, but we didn't visit it. Gradina Cismigiu (Cismigiu Park) is situated in the West part of the city center. It also features a lake, Lake Cismigiu, where you can rent pedal boats. The entrance is on the Elisabeta Boulevard, in front of the City Hall of Bucharest. It is 14.6 ha in size. In the South part of Bucharest you find the Carol Park (Parcul Carol) with the large monument on top of the Mausoleum of Marasesti. Even further to the South is Parcul Tineretului (Youth Park). |
