Henri Coanda International Airport- Otopeni
Bucharest has a large airport in the Northern suburb Otopeni; Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport. It is Romania's busiest airport, and it is situated 16.5km North of the city center, at an elevation of 96m. It opened in 1965 and has two runways, it is very modern. It has only one terminal, but it is very big. It was named after the flight pioneer Henri Coanda. The airport is the headquarters of TAROM, the Romian national airline, but we flew with Wizzair to Copenhagen. The last 10 years it has doubled the number of passengers to over 14 million passengers a year. From the airport you can take a train or a bus to the city center. Don't confuse it with the other airport, Aurel Vlaicu, that is very near. |
