Bonn by night

- Marktplatz, Altes Rathaus, Brauhotel

Bonn is not exactly a vibrant city at night, as most people go to nearby Cologne (less the 30 min away by train) for nightlife. But Bonn has many illuminated buildings after dark, and has pubs and open air restaurants that close late summertime.

I stayed at the Brauhotel, next to the old St Regimus Church and Marktplatz, right in the city center. It is a popular hostel among backpackers, where the reception is a German pub, the staff was friendly but hillbilly like and humoristic. A very personal place. The con was that the entrance door can be complicated to understand, several guest had problems getting in to the hotel when the reception was closed, the solution was to tap really hard!
