Antwerp Inner Harbour
MUSEUM AAN DE STROOM, WESTKAI, WILLEMDOK, NAPOLEONDOK


Antwerp's harbour is Europe's 3rd largest, after Rotterdam and Hamburg. In the inner harbour you will find private boats, and newly constructed highrises, as the Museum and de Stroom. Because of the train strike, we only had time to visit the harbour for a few minutes.

Museum aan de Stroom (MAS) is a significant red highrise building, built in 2010, that houses a museum about the city's history. It is 62m tall and was designed by the Dutch firm Neutelings Riedijk. The building has large glass sections with views over the city, from the top there are 360 degrees views (unfortunately we didn't have time to visit because of the train strike however). It is situated between Willemdok and Napoleondok, two of Antwerp's oldest docks.

Museum aan de Stroom means "museum at the river"


MAS has great views. A boulevard with escalators leads to the top.

 

LINKOROEVER and RIVER SCHELDE:

Linkeroever is a district just to the west of the Old Town. It is only divided from the Old Town by River Schelde. This photos was taken just a few blocks from Grote Markt!
