Amsterdam by night

Amsterdam is a city that really comes alive at night. People are walking the streets almost 24 hours, especially tourist at the Dam and in the red light district. Amsterdam is famous for its vibrant nighlife. Many of the bridges and old canal houses are illuminated. During my visit in May 2012, it was hot even in the night. One night it was 26 degrees C!

Dam Square and surroundings:

De Bijenkorf department store.

The National Monument at The Dam.

Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky and the National monument.

The Royal Palace and the Nieuwe Kerk at the Dam.

European Football Championships decorations at the pedestrian street Nieuwendijk, here at the Dam.

Old Post Office/Magna Plaza and Hotel Port van Cleve.

Damstraat.

Red Light District:

Oudezijds Achterburgwal, the same street canal that my hotel was on.

The red lights are really visible at night. The district is always crowed with people.

Excalibur, said to be one of 3 rock clubs in Amsterdam, but rather touristy.

Station Area/Ooosterdok:

The Centraalstation and Sint Nicolaaskerk are illuminated at night.

Victoria Hotel.

Damrak:

Damrak by night, near the station.

The Grasshopper.

Near Leidseplein:

The Cave is Amsterdam's only "real" metal club. It is small like a pub. It has live bands and is located at Leidseplein.
