Schiphol Airport

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is the by far largest airport in the Netherlands, and one of the largest in Europe. It is the 4th busiest airport in Europe and the 12th busiest in the world. At least 50 millions passengers a year pass the airport. Schiphol is the primary hub of KLM (that I flew with ) and other Dutch airlines. I travelled to and from Schiphol Airport from Copenhagen during my 6 day long May trip.

Special features of the airport include a bransch of Rijksmueum (with a free art collection), the world's first airport library, a mortuary, an airplane store inside of parts of an aircraft, a wedding chapel and a large rooftop terreace for panorama views of the air traffic. And of course a lot of stores, hotels and restaurants. There is a railway station underneath Schiphol. From Schiphol it takes less then one hour to The Hague and Rotterdam, so when you go by train to these cities, you will most likely pass the airport station. Despite being so large, there is only one terminal, but it is really huge.

Here you can see 2 control towers from the terminal building.
