The outskirt's of Amsterdam

The outskirts include business districts with skyscrapers, residential brick buildings in common style, luxorious plush districts with brick town houses, upmarket villa areas and notorious concrete block suburbs. With other words the diversity you could expect from a big city. In the outskirts of Amsterdam you can find many canal's just like in the city center.
The international airport Schiphol is situated in the southern suburbs. Most highrises are located in the outskirts, while the city center is mostly old, not so tall buildings.

Sloterdijk:

A business district in the south part near Sloterdijk station, between Schiphol and Amsterdam Central. Here seen from the train.

Crystal Tower (95m) at Sloterdijk station. It was built in 2002. The square in front of it is called Orlyplein.

Millennium Tower (98m) from 2004 in Sloterdijk.

Not exactly the outskirts, but this is just west of the central station. Here you can find newly built modern residential buildings, canals and boat houseses. In the distance you can see Overhoeks.

Amsterdam Arena:

Around the huge Amsterdam Arena, the stadium that is home of the famous soccer team Ajax, you can also find some skyscrapers, that I unfortunately have no pictures of. The area is located in the southeast part of the city.

Amsterdam Arena is one of Europe's most modern football stadiums. It has a roof that can be opened and closed, it takes 18 minutes. It takes about 51 628 visitors. It was built in 1996 and is the largest stadium in the country.

A highway pass underneath Amsterdam Arena. The photos were taken from the train heading towards Utrecht, hence the quality.

Schiphol:

In the south part you find Amsterdam's airport Schipol, that is the 3rd most busy in Europe. You can find more photos and info in the Schiphol section.
