Alicante skylines and views
- from Santa Barbara Castle, Tryp Gran Sol Hotel, Playa de San Juan and the City Centre
Alicante has a few tall modern highrise buildings in the city center, 27-35 floors high. The tallest is Estudiotel Alicante (117m), a 2 star hotel where we stayed the last night. Tryp Gran Sol where we stayed for two nights, is a true landmark in the city center, built in the 70s. From the rooftop restaurants there are nice views of the city. Playa de San Juan has a more impressive skyline (at least for a European city) with tall residential buildings and hotels. The 35-storey El Barco is the tallest building in this area. It can be seen from the port and Santa Barbara Castle, that is situated on Mount Becantil and offers great views of the city. Actually the best views. There are several old churches and other historic buildings in the city center but no really tall ones. The Town Hall has two towers, 42m tall each.
