Museo Popol Vuh
- Maya museum, Museo Ixchel, Francisco Marroquin University, Zona 10
Museo Popol Vuh is a modern museum, that is one of the most important collections of Maya art in the world. Popol Vuh is the Maya's holy book. In the museum you find sculptures, and models of the pyramids like Tikal. The oldest object is a clovis point from 9000 BC! There is also a colonial exhibition.
The building, opened in 1975, is situated in the campus of one of Guatemala City's many universities, Universidad Francisco Marroquin in Zona 10 in the southeast part of the city. It is private and not for profit. Museo Ixchel, a museum about ancient clothing in Guatemala, is situated in the same complex.
The Popol Vuh museum was the first place we went to after we arrived in the city. We got there by taxi, since it is hard to get there by public transport even if it was not far from our hotel in Zona Viva.
