Göteborgs Konstmuséum (Gothenburg Museum of Arts)-Hasselblad Center, Zorn, Monet, Picasso, Rubens, Liljefors, Mloda Polska, Götaplatsen, Avenyn
Göteborgs Konstmuseum is a large art museum situated in front of Götaplatsen and Avenyn. It was constructed in 1923 and includes works of among others Picasso, Rubens, Zorn and Dubuffet and Göteborgs Konsthall (Gothenburg Art Hall), all large yellow-brick buildings. The Art Museum includes the Hasselblad Center exhition hall about the famous Swedish camera that was used to take photos of Neil Armstrong's first steps on the moon. The museum has more then 202 000 visitors a year and has around 70 000 works. It is the largest art museum in Sweden, outside Stockholm. During our visit in 2018, Mloda Polska, a temporary exhibition about fine Polish turn of the century art, was going on. On 4 large floors with high ceilings you find Fürstenberg gallery, the Rembrandt room, the Gothenburg colorist room, the Arosenius room, drawings rooms, Nordic and European art rooms from different epochs and more. |
