OLD TOWN, GRAND PLACE, EUROPEAN QUARTERS, PLACE DE L'ALBERTINE

Brussels have many illuminated buildings at night. The most impressive ones you will find in the Old Town, especially at Grand Place, where the historic buildings almost look golden after dark, and nearby at the narrow Rue de Boucher with its cozy restaurants and neon lights. Brussels is said to have a decent nightlife, but what we saw was mostly for tourists. The neighbourhoods in the Old Town are lively in the evening with a lot of pedestians and open air restaurants, but otherwise the city is pretty dead, perhaps because of the large number of office blocks. The area around the Royal Palace is very empty nighttime.

Grand Place, the heart of Brussels, really comes alie at night when the historic buildings are illuminated, creating a golden appearance. You will also find a vibrant nightlife, thought mostly for tourists, with open air restaurants and pubs.

OLD TOWN - GALERIES ROYALE ST HUBERT, RUE DE BOUCHER:

Rue des Bouchers (Beenhouwers straat) is the longest of 3 very picturesque, narrow curcy and cozy pedestrian streets that borders Galeries St-Hubert and Grand Place. Here you find open air restaurants from all over the world, pubs and streetlife. Especially at night, this is probably Brussels most attractive area.
