Alicante is especially beautiful after dark, and at sunset with its pink sky. Many buildings, trees, fountains and monuments are illuminated after dark, many in cool colours. Some are even changing colours frequently, like the strange trees at Parque de Canalejas. Especially nice places to visit after dark are the ones mentioned above; boulevards, small lanes and large and small plazas. Most nightlife can be found in the old town, around the boulevards that passed Plaza de los Luceros with its illuminated fountain, the Explanada and near the harbour. Many stores close late in the evening, but in the middle of the day 1.30-4most stores and restaurants are closed!
